Preconditioned Air Units (PCA)
North American Construction (NACC) is an authorized distributor of Hobart Preconditioned Air systems (PCA’s). NACC has extensive experience in the installation of PCA’s on passenger boarding bridges to provide airports with the most current and cost-effective solution for providing conditioned air to parked aircraft. Without the availability of PCA’s, aircraft crew are burning fuel to power the on-board Auxiliary Power Unit APU. By using the APU less and using external PC Air with power instead, the APU can remain off until 5 minutes before departure to be ready to start a main engine.
Operation of aircraft APU with its low efficiency rate of 8-14% is subject to gaseous emissions and noise, thus often contributing significantly to the local air quality impacts and site noise impacts. To mitigate emissions and noise, fixed energy systems such as Hobart equipment can be employed to provide electrical energy and pre-conditioned air to aircraft.
NACC has teamed with ITW GSE Hobart because of their comprehensive knowledge of controlling and optimizing 400 Hz units. They have combined this knowledge with experts’ know-how within cooling technology. This lead to the creation of the Hobart PCA system – the market’s most innovative, smartest and environmentally friendly PCA unit for de-centralised use. Advantages of the Hobart system are:
-
Flexible, simple and innovative design
-
Easy and time-saving maintenance due to modular design
-
Savings on installation due to low input current
-
Optimal and efficient cooling thanks to variable frequency drives
- Easy operation and maintenance
- Passenger comfort and high air quality
- Tested in the world’s most advanced PCA climate chamber
- ETL Listed to UL 1995
